Highlight 6: China Alcoholic Drinks Association Responds to Beer Formaldehyde Rumors: Illegal Act of Rumor-Mongering Recently, two articles titled '7 Beer Test Reports: Budweiser Has the Highest Formaldehyde Content, Carlsberg Performs Worst' and 'Thirteen Years Ago Tsingtao Beer Said It No Longer Used Formaldehyde, But Facts Have Slapped Its Face' were spreading on the internet on the Sina Weibo and WeChat public account 'Preferred Consumer Report.' At the same time, they were widely shared on Weibo and WeChat Moments, with over 10,000 views.
Upon investigation, the publisher, taking advantage of the so-called 'Quality Consumption China Tour' activity, under the banner of 'providing consumers with consumption decisions,' arbitrarily selected several well-known domestic beer brands from the market and sent them to third-party testing institutions for testing. Without publishing the test reports, they released false statements about certain brands having excessive formaldehyde content to mislead the public. At the same time, they distorted the interpretation of Mr. He Yong, Executive Deputy Secretary-General of the China Alcoholic Drinks Association, regarding the revision of the national standard GB/T 4927 'Beer,' attempting to lead the public to understand that the industry association was avoiding the formaldehyde indicator and intentionally removing it from the national beer standard.
Such statements are illegal acts of rumor-mongering and have had a relatively bad impact on society, seriously defaming the reputation of China's beer industry and related enterprises. At the same time, they have exacerbated consumer distrust of Chinese beer products, aiming to attract greater attention and consumer panic, deliberately undermining the normal consumer market order for profit.
