Recently, Master Kong Holdings (hereinafter referred to as 'Master Kong') and the Shenzhen Aerospace Technology Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as 'the Aerospace Research Institute') jointly established the 'Space Convenience Food Joint Laboratory' in Shanghai, officially inaugurated. This signifies deep cooperation between the two parties in the R&D of space convenience foods, and Master Kong has taken a solid step forward in aligning with aerospace standards. Industry insiders believe this event is a milestone for driving quality upgrades across the entire industry.

Attendees at the unveiling ceremony included Xu Ji, Dean of the Aerospace Research Institute; Yu Yanbo, Director of the Food Technology Department; Wu Jie, former national astronaut and Director of the Public Welfare Affairs Department of the China Space Foundation; Wei Junxian, CEO of Master Kong Holdings; and Chen Yingrang, Director of the Master Kong Central Research Institute.

The 'Space Convenience Food Joint Laboratory' was officially inaugurated in Shanghai.

Previously, leaders from the Aerospace Research Institute visited Shanghai to conduct a comprehensive inspection of Master Kong, a partner of China's space program. Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on the prospects and future of space convenience foods, ultimately reaching broad consensus on multiple aspects and sparking the idea of establishing a joint laboratory. It is understood that Master Kong's stringent food safety management was a key factor that impressed the Aerospace Research Institute.

At the unveiling ceremony, Xu Ji, Dean of the Aerospace Research Institute, stated that through joint efforts, the completed Space Convenience Food Joint Laboratory will better promote the transformation of scientific research achievements, serve aerospace and the public, and contribute to China's manned space program and socio-economic development.

Industry-University-Research Collaboration to Develop Space Convenience Foods, Consumers to Enjoy Higher Quality Products

As a leading FMCG enterprise, Master Kong today serves over 900 million consumers in mainland China, with annual revenue exceeding 60 billion yuan. It sells over 12 billion packs of instant noodles and 10 billion bottles of tea beverages annually. Since 2017, Master Kong has continuously increased product innovation and premiumization, not only driving the development of the mid-to-high-end market but also leading the healthy development of the entire convenience food industry.

The Shenzhen Aerospace Technology Research Institute is a professional aerospace technology R&D institution with extensive experience in participating in the formulation of aerospace-grade food standards and the development of functional foods. While rooted in aerospace research, it also undertakes the important function of actively promoting the transformation of aerospace technology achievements.

Undoubtedly, the strong alliance between the two parties to establish the Space Convenience Food Joint Laboratory, focusing on the development of nutritionally fortified and functional instant noodles, will boost Master Kong's progress toward aerospace quality, elevate its industry-university-research collaboration to new heights, and deepen its aerospace strategy to the level of quality upgrades.

Wei Junxian, CEO of Master Kong Holdings, stated, 'We will continue to introduce high-standard, stringent aerospace food quality management and safety control technologies and methods, continuously improve whole-process food safety management, actively respond to the national 'Healthy China' action plan, and ensure that consumers can enjoy Master Kong's rich and diverse delicious foods with confidence, peace of mind, and happiness.'

Wei Junxian, CEO of Master Kong Holdings, expressed his expectations for the future of the 'Space Convenience Food Joint Laboratory'.

It is reported that since its establishment, Master Kong has always emphasized deep industry-university-research cooperation, continuously strengthening collaboration with universities and professional research institutions in specialized fields. In 2016, Master Kong partnered with China Agricultural University and three other top domestic food science institutions to conduct research on food science and engineering, convenience food nutrition, and food safety.

Food Safety Adds Value to Cooperation, Space Convenience Foods Have Broad Prospects

The Aerospace Research Institute is extremely strict in selecting partners. Master Kong's stringent food safety management is the most compelling reason it was favored.

It is understood that Master Kong has invested a total of 500 million yuan to establish an international-level food safety testing center, with a food safety management team of over 3,000 people conducting more than 3.5 million tests on raw materials and final products annually. In 2018, Master Kong further invested over 90 million yuan in food safety and quality control, achieving a 100% certification rate for food safety management systems in regular operating plants and 100% coverage of supplier food safety management audits. Its testing center has also obtained CNAS (China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment) laboratory capability qualification, benchmarking international standards.

Moreover, Master Kong ensures food safety from the 'source' through strict selection of planting bases, raw material supply, and partnerships with food safety collaborators. For example, it collaborated with university resources to create the 'Kangbano'er International Agricultural Industrial Park' project. By guiding farmers in planting and strictly controlling quality inspection and supervision at the production end, it significantly reduces the detection rate of pesticide residues in vegetable raw materials, maximizing food safety.

Despite having established a comprehensive quality and safety management system through comprehensive upgrades from within, Master Kong has been exploring ways to further enhance food safety management. In 2017, Master Kong partnered with the China Space Foundation to become a partner of China's space program, hoping to upgrade its food safety system and achieve high-level breakthroughs in food R&D.

Chen Yingrang, Director of the Master Kong Central Research Institute, delivered a speech.

The establishment of the joint laboratory with the Aerospace Research Institute is both a recognition of Master Kong's stringent food safety system and a breakthrough for Master Kong in new product development, leveraging aerospace talent and high-tech advantages. This will benefit the entire industry and the broad consumer base. Chen Yingrang, Director of the Master Kong Central Research Institute, spoke about the original intention and vision of establishing the joint laboratory: 'I hope that the laboratory can achieve breakthroughs in the R&D of functional and nutritional convenience foods and beverages, better responding to people's expectations for a better life under consumption upgrades.'

Industry insiders believe that research on space convenience foods is not an easy task, but it is highly anticipated.
