As the saying goes, before 30 you rely on ability; after 30, you rely on connections. Modern society is a society of personal connections. Whether in life or at work, besides your own conditions and efforts, your network also holds the key to your fate and can determine your future at critical moments. Newcomers to the workplace are often not yet mature enough mentally, and more or less think, "I just need to do well in the present." In fact, there are many things to learn in the workplace. Especially for those of us born in the 1980s now entering our 30s, managing interpersonal relationships is particularly important.
First: Mentor, Coach He teaches you practical skills and some work experience. Though not knowledge, it can point you in the right direction. This person might be your boss, senior, or senior schoolmate. I often say, if someone is willing to support you, they are definitely your benefactor. When he is willing to support you unconditionally, just because you are you, he believes in "you" as a person, and he accepts you. A person willing to accept us is definitely our benefactor. When he knows that someone is slandering you behind your back, he will support you and speak well of you to clarify!
Second: Practice Partner, Fellow Traveler Anyone's growth is not learned but practiced: learn, then practice, and practice becomes habit. This practice process is a painful one, a series of simple actions repeated over and over, a process from quantity to quality. A partner willing to go through storms with you is your benefactor. Many people will leave you in times of trouble, but when you achieve success, they want to share the credit. In this process, it's hard to persist alone; you need a fellow traveler. He can be a friend with common interests and goals, preferably someone you love in life.
Third: Role Model We spend one-third of our day in the workplace. If during this time we have no goal, no hope, and just go through the motions, we waste our lives. How to change yourself? Find a benchmark. In your life, at different stages, there will be different benchmarks. You learn from them, are inspired by them, and gradually move closer to them. You should strive to find a role model in your company, most importantly someone you can see and touch, not someone you can never reach. You know that you can achieve that level through effort, not just by chance.
Fourth: Enemy Those who look down on you, those who have rejected you. Think back: have you ever made up your mind to work hard because of a parent's objection? Have you ever stayed up late studying because of a classmate's sarcasm, just to change how others see you? Have you ever changed your ways and become a stronger person because of a casual remark from an ex-girlfriend? People don't have fighting spirit until they are pushed to the edge. You want to prove them wrong, and they give you real motivation. Enemies play a crucial role in our career development, though we may not feel it now; we only feel the pain of daily life. In fact, this is the true test for you.
Fifth: The Most Important Person Is Yourself If you don't believe you can succeed, don't want to work harder than others, and don't want to live a life of struggle, then you can ignore the above four points. Nothing in this world is in vain, and nothing is achieved overnight. Everything will give you results at some stage in life. The only difference is that we don't know when good luck will come. In this world, besides those with very poor talent, failures are due to: laziness, wrong direction, wrong methods, and lack of persistence. If you can't do it yourself, don't blame others. So, when you start building your network, you must be enthusiastic. The more you contribute, the more value you have, and in turn, the more others are willing to give for you. After 30, everyone's energy is rising, and your network will grow with you.
