The Real Ice Cream "Assassins" Are Quietly Making a Fortune

Summer is here, and with it comes the season for ice cream. During travel in the scorching heat, who can resist the lifelike "cultural creative ice cream" that is perfect for photo ops at scenic spots? From the Forbidden City to the Summer Palace, Jiming Temple, Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, Terracotta Warriors, and Daming Lake, these famous attractions have long launched their signature ice creams, and even niche spots like the Grand Canal Museum now offer custom ice creams. Cultural creative ice cream has been popular for years, with early hits like Beijing's Yuyuantan "Sakura" ice cream and the Summer Palace's "Ancient Lotus" ice cream driving visitors to check in. In 2021, the trend exploded with creations like Nanjing's Xuanwu Gate, Hangzhou's Lady White, and Xi'an's Terracotta Warriors. This year, the trend continues, with Wuliangye launching its own cultural creative ice cream and CCTV introducing four designs. While these ice creams have proven their value in building brand influence, they face criticism for high prices and aesthetic fatigue. The sustainability of this "good business" warrants deeper discussion.

The First Wave of Expiry-Date Discount Store Pioneers Have Already Gone Their Separate Ways

Today, stepping into any HotMaxx or Hi-Tech Go, the impression differs from the memory of "expiry-date food discount stores": "expiry-date" items are now rare, and "food" is no longer the sole主力 on the shelves. Apart from discounts, it is almost indistinguishable from an ordinary department store. Since the expiry-date food boom in 2020, the industry has evolved for three years, and change is inevitable. Or rather, such observation is hardly new. Three years may not be long, but as a track that precisely rode the wave of era dividends and consumer sentiment, it has been enough for players to complete a survival-of-the-fittest reshuffle, entering an era where the strong get stronger.

Prepared Dishes That Don't Sell Well Start 'Intercepting' Office Workers

Urban white-collar workers have long been targeted by prepared dishes—industry reports consistently highlight 'first- and second-tier cities,' 'young people,' and 'office workers' as key consumer demographics. After saturating e-commerce and supermarket channels, prepared dishes are now entering subway stations, getting closer to their target consumers. New Retail Business Review noted that in Beijing's Guomao and Shihe stations, smart pickup lockers named 'DT Canteen' have been installed, selling corn and lamb offal soup prepared meal sets. Similarly, in Shenzhen's Hubei station, refrigerated cabinets branded 'Caihexian Prepared Dishes' have appeared, offering dishes from the brand Gengji, including noodles and stir-fries.

Carrefour and New Internet-Famous Brands: Who Is Whose Lifeline?

Traditional large supermarkets, facing declining foot traffic, are increasingly stocking internet-famous new brands, while these brands seek offline presence to sustain growth. This mutual need reflects a strategic alignment, though neither may fully serve as the other's savior.
