Quanshi, the Beijing convenience store brand most resembling 7-Eleven, has not escaped a second sale. The three-way split is largely settled: Lawson takes over 94 stores in East China and Chongqing, Jianfu takes over 106 stores in Chengdu, and Haolinju takes over over 400 stores in Beijing.

On September 23, Hou Yi, President of Hema Business Group, announced at Alibaba's Investor Day that stores operating for over one year have achieved positive EBITDA, which Hema interprets as reaching break-even. Costco, the world's second-largest retailer known for its low gross margins, membership model, and generous return policy, is finally entering mainland China with its first store in Shanghai's Minhang District, slated to open in summer 2019. The company has signed an agreement to establish its China headquarters in Pudong and will build a flagship membership warehouse store with partner Xinghe Holdings.
