Master Kong's Performance Slumps, Dealer Enthusiasm Dampened
Master Kong's performance suffered another 'Waterloo'. On May 26, Master Kong Holdings released its Q1 2016 results, showing total revenue of approximately $2.1 billion, down 9.54% year-on-year, and net profit of approximately $73.5 million, down 45.02%. The instant noodle business saw sales of $842 million, down 15.82%, and net profit of $48.661 million, down 48.34%, while the beverage business net profit fell 40.16%.

Following its acquisition of actual control over Jiugui Liquor, COFCO Group has finally taken the first step in integration. Recently, Hao Gang, director and deputy general manager of Jiugui Liquor Co., Ltd. and general manager of Jiugui Liquor Supply and Marketing Co., Ltd., confirmed his resignation, signaling COFCO's full takeover. With Hao's departure, the pace of COFCO's complete takeover may accelerate. COFCO has rich industrialization experience and talent reserves, which could help expand Jiugui's business in the long run, but short-term integration will be key.
