Since August, it has been closing cities one after another, first shrinking provincial operations to provincial capitals, then shutting down even those. Now it has withdrawn from five provinces—Shanxi, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hebei, and Anhui—and sharply reduced operations in Shandong and Shaanxi. The closures were not sudden; suppliers received advance notice, as daily order volumes in these cities were too low and competitiveness weak.
