Meituan Raises Another $10 Billion: Will Unmanned Delivery Catch Fire?
Unmanned delivery is a slow-burn track that will inevitably arrive, but how long we must wait before the dividends materialize remains unknown. On April 19, Meituan announced that its new self-developed unmanned delivery vehicle had officially begun operations in Shunyi, Beijing, marking the latest solution for low-speed instant delivery in outdoor scenarios. Meituan initiated its unmanned delivery project in 2016, and after five years of iteration, the latest vehicle can carry up to 150kg with a volume of nearly 540L and a top delivery speed of 20km/h.
