Click the image for details Another Double Festival is here, and the peak season that liquor distributors have been anticipating for months is finally arriving! Distributors are rubbing their hands in anticipation, full of energy, just waiting for the peak season to dive in. As the saying goes, 'Before the troops move, provisions are prepared first.' The most important thing to ignite the Double Festival is to prepare in advance and not fight an unprepared battle. To ignite the peak season, you only need to do these four things... 1Strategic Stockpiling Before the Festival Stockpiling during the peak season generally presents two situations: First, insufficient stock—when products sell like hotcakes, but inventory checks reveal nothing to sell, leaving money on the table, a distributor's sorrow; Second, excessive stock—overly optimistic market forecasts lead to bulk stocking before the festival, causing product backlog, and after the festival, distributors have to grit their teeth to clear inventory, their hearts bleeding. How should distributors stock up for the peak season to avoid these two painful scenarios? Generally, stockpiling should be based on sales data from the same period in recent years to determine which are channel products, which are profit products, and which are advertising products, then decide the quantity for each type based on the planned sales strategy. First, focus on channel products. Channel products are those whose prices suit the local mass market, have been on the market for a while, have high consumer awareness, and are well accepted by channels. As long as channel profits are managed, these products can sell through various levels of distribution. They are also the best for driving peak-season sales because for channel products, occupying the channel means occupying the market. Second, supplement with profit products. Profit products are those that have been on the market for some time, are recognized by channels and consumers, and have less transparent pricing. These products are in their growth stage, and although their sales volume may not be as high as channel products, they ensure sufficient profit for the company's cash flow. Third, launch advertising products. Advertising products are those recently introduced to the market, still in the cultivation period, but with quality and packaging that consumers and channels are willing to accept, and the company is investing heavily in advertising to promote them. 2Winning at the Terminal: Two Key Points During the Double Festival, it's the peak period for liquor consumption: the Mid-Autumn Festival is a peak for buying liquor as gifts, and National Day is a peak for weddings and gatherings. At this time, tapping terminal potential and capturing consumer mindshare becomes paramount. Many distributors do a lot of preparation before the festival, but after the festival, they find it ineffective because many things weren't done right. To win at the terminal, pay attention to the following two points: First, strengthen the marketing team. During the liquor peak season, distributors need to handle stocking, delivery, inventory pressure, promotions, and customer relations... Without a solid marketing team, it's impossible to keep up. So before the Double Festival, focus on recruiting and training talent to avoid a shortage of hands when running the terminals. Second, create terminal atmosphere. The hot-selling atmosphere at the terminal can be created through displays, promotional staff, and promotional signage. Let's talk about displays first. A good display can be half the success of a promotion. Whether in supermarkets, restaurants, hotels, or community convenience stores, displays are the best way to attract consumer attention. Large-area displays catch the eye, and creative displays enhance visual impact, both increasing consumer purchase desire. Displays should adhere to the principles of attractiveness and easy access. Next, promotional staff: The number must be sufficient. When products are selling well, promotional staff may be overwhelmed by the large number of consumers, letting potential customers slip away. Additionally, the quality of promotional staff must be high—good attitude, familiar with brand culture and product knowledge, approachable, and persuasive. Finally, promotional signage: Obvious promotional signs stand out among regular price tags and easily win consumer favor. 3Targeted Promotions for the Peak Season Promotions here refer to two types: one for downstream distribution channels, such as secondary and tertiary distributors, and one for consumers. Promotions for secondary distributors should be simple to execute, appropriately strong, and attractive. For example, a distributor in Henan launched a promotion during the Double Festival: for a one-time stock order of 20,000 yuan from downstream terminals, they gave away a five-day trip for two to Lijiang; for 50,000 yuan, a five-day trip for two to Sanya. Another distributor used physical rewards: for a one-time stock order of 30,000 yuan, they gave an air conditioner; for 60,000 yuan, a branded freezer. Promotions for consumers need to identify the right promotion channels, core consumers, and beneficiaries. Among the various festive promotion methods, the most popular with consumers are spend-and-reduce, spend-and-gift, and buy-and-gift, such as spend 500 get 300 off, spend 1000 get 500 off, or spend 200 get 200, buy one case (14) of a certain brand and get one free. For core consumer groups, promotions can include giving discount cards, VIP cards, or hosting regular banquets, tea parties, or networking events to play the emotional card. Beneficiaries refer to the recipients of promotional gifts. Usually, liquor promotional gifts might be self-use items like cigarettes or lighters, but during the Double Festival, consider shifting the beneficiary to parents, spouses, or children, such as health products, neck and back massagers, delicate accessories, or toys. 4*Pre-Battle Motivation: Pumping Up the Team Many distributors' companies experience this phenomenon: when the peak season arrives, the boss is full of energy and enthusiasm, but employees are listless and just going through the motions. The result is predictable, because one boss alone can't save a company; it's the employees who run the market and maintain customer relations. So how can you change this negative attitude among employees? First, set goals. Determine and break down the overall sales target for the peak season, and set a clear goal for each employee. Goals shouldn't be too low, or employees won't be motivated, nor too high, as failure to achieve them can demoralize the team. Base goals on data and employees' past performance to set reasonable targets. Second, set rewards. For employees, nothing is more attractive than bonuses. Material rewards are the basic guarantee to stimulate team combat effectiveness and work passion. So be sure to set rewards for achieving goals: complete the basic goal, get cash reward XX; complete the intermediate goal, get cash reward XX; complete the ultimate goal, get cash reward XX. Third, set meetings. With material incentives in place, spiritual incentives are also essential. Before the Double Festival, hold a mobilization meeting to pump up the employees; after the festival starts, hold morning and evening meetings daily. The morning meeting confirms personnel, routes, vehicles, etc., and the evening meeting summarizes distribution status, customer information, shipment quantities, and finally shares the day's work methods, gains, and mistakes.
