# We've All Been Fooled by Instant Noodles!

> This article, reposted from the WeChat public account 'Creative Society', reveals the surprising truth behind the production of instant noodles, potato chips, toast, and ice cream, showing that many foods are not made the way we imagine. It also promotes the upcoming 2017 FMCG + Internet Conference.

This article has been reposted with permission from the WeChat public account: Creative Society.

Did you know? Today is the cutest day of the year. Queen Zan was also charmed (and drooling) early in the morning by all sorts of interesting assembly line productions.

**I used to think assembly line workers were both transparent and mysterious.**
For example, there are those who specialize in punching holes in lotus roots, those who add sesame seeds to dragon fruit, and even a group of people who are busy every day weaving instant noodles. It wasn't until I saw the real instant noodle processing line that I exclaimed, "Too young, too naïve..."

It turns out we've been fooled by instant noodles for so many years!

**How are instant noodles made?**

**The simple-to-make, fragrant instant noodles are not born curly?**
Before going through the extruder, the noodles are actually straight. One reason they are bent is to increase the surface area in contact with air, saving time in frying and cooling, so they have to be forcibly bent. (Isn't it because curved noodles are easier to pick up with chopsticks?)

Another reason is to save space, make them less prone to breaking, and easier to transport. Then these curved noodles are cut into 30 cm lengths, which is the portion for one pack of instant noodles. (Why can't they change 30 cm to 45 cm? One pack is never enough, but two packs are too much.)

The cut noodles fall onto a mesh conveyor and wait for frying at 130°C to 140°C. The packaged noodles go through a weighing machine and then an X-ray machine for inspection. Finally, there is a manual spot check. If you still manage to buy instant noodles without the seasoning packet, you must be truly blessed by heaven...

At the very, very end, there is the quality inspection stage where humans taste the product. It is said to be one of the most enviable jobs for foodies.

After fooling you into eating instant noodles, they want to fool you into eating potato chips too. These animated images are so tempting that you can't stop eating.

**How are potato chips made?**

**Do you think the chips you've eaten are all sliced from potatoes and fried?**
Chips in a can (like Pringles) beg to differ...

Their method is to mix potato flour with 1/3 water, stir evenly to make mashed potatoes, then use a roller with an oval cutter mold to cut the potato mash into individual chip shapes. The curved shape of the chips is not from frying but from the same principle as instant noodles: they are pressed and shaped by rollers. (So that's how it works...)

The leftover scraps are recycled and processed, waiting to be pressed and sliced again. The cut chips are placed in 190°C oil and fried for 11 seconds, then removed and cooled by a blower. Finally, seasoning is sprinkled on each chip, and they are flipped over. The convex side faces up, the concave side down, and the weighed chips are inverted into aluminum foil cans. (Because the top foil is already sealed before canning, and the plastic lid is attached from the start.)

Aren't you shocked to see this? Not only are instant noodles not woven, but chips are not sliced either.

**How is crispy toast made?**

**Fortunately, crispy toast is still baked from bread.**
Toast slices dipped in egg yolk liquid look incredibly appetizing. I'm drooling like a waterfall. The attractive color produced during baking is also irresistible. Finally, the golden, crispy toast is sliced and packaged. This is not a bread processing site; it's clearly an assembly line for delicacies!

Isn't it tempting? Don't you want to eat it?

**How is ice cream made?**

**The ice cream making process is even more mesmerizing; every GIF makes you stare for ten minutes.**
After mixing, sterilizing, and cooling the ingredients, a layer of chocolate powder is sprayed at the bottom of the cone. Then, various colors and flavors of ice cream are extruded layer by layer. When soft, sweet ice cream meets crispy nuts—strawberry, mango, matcha flavors... peanut crumbs, hazelnuts, chocolate beans... I can't suppress my eager taste buds...

For the first time, I've made myself hungry writing this. Enough said, I'm going to have a midnight snack.

**May everyone who loves life have a good appetite...**
