Grand and spectacular achievements are enviable, but after all, most of us are just a drop in the ocean. Though there are thousands of troops, only a few can cross the single-plank bridge. The infinite scenery is on the perilous peaks, and only a few can appreciate it. So, are we destined to be ordinary? No. In *Nancun Chuo Geng Lu* (Records of Rest in the Southern Village), it is told: In the Southern Song Dynasty, an official wanted to find a concubine in Hangzhou. After searching without finding a suitable one, someone brought him a girl named Xi Nu. She was beautiful, and when asked what she could do, she replied that she could warm wine. Everyone around laughed, but the official did not laugh. He asked her to warm wine for a try. The first time, the wine was too hot; the second time, it was a bit cold; the third time, it was just right, and he drank it. From then on, she never failed to warm wine properly. Later, every day it was like the third time. The official was pleased and took her as his concubine. He kept Xi Nu with him for life, and everything was to his satisfaction. After his death, he left his property to her. Why? **Because "perfection in one thing can move people, and it is due to concentration and dedication."** There is a small coffee shop of only ten square meters, with just two or three tables and no decoration, yet it has been open for a full ten years. A pair of siblings from Taiwan settled in that city and became the pioneers of small coffee shops there. They only sell Mandheling coffee, from roasting the beans to brewing, all handmade. How popular was their shop? Many customers just pass by, but they would rather stand and drink a cup of coffee before leaving, fully satisfied. The aroma of coffee can be smelled from a distance. A small shop, a single-origin coffee, offering infinite coffee thoughts and a lifestyle. This also reminds me of the café on Gulangyu Island that insists on selling only Blue Mountain coffee. The owner prefers Blue Mountain and only sells this coffee. It was the best Blue Mountain I have ever had; one cup was enough to make my soul soar. In Shanghai, there was a man named Shen Jingsi, a great gourmet. He squandered the family fortune left by his ancestors, selling houses and land to eat. When famous chefs from north and south came to Shanghai to make their mark, they could skip seeing others, but they had to meet Mr. Shen. Of course, Mr. Shen was not someone who showed up for any meal; he usually considered who was hosting and who was cooking, with a notoriously picky palate. He devoted himself to the study of "eating" and became the "uncrowned king" of the culinary world in Shanghai, enjoying considerable prestige in society. Later, Mr. Shen became poor. He knew nothing but eating. When he went to register for work, they asked him, "What can you do?" He said, "I can eat." "Pfft! Who can't eat?" Later, someone reported his skill to Mayor Chen Yi, saying there was a man who only knew how to eat, and asked what job would be suitable. Mayor Chen said, "Oh, that's a real man. He spent his whole life eating, even squandering his fortune to eat. That's not easy!" Let him work at the International Hotel, specifically for tasting dishes. Later, the quality of food at the Shanghai International Hotel remained high, largely due to his picky palate. His monthly salary was about 200 yuan, which was quite high at the time, comparable to experts and professors. His culinary research had a high level of artistic appreciation. In the 1960s, he edited the book *Collection of Recipes*, which was reprinted many times and widely used in major hotels in Shanghai and across the country, but he did not agree to have his name printed in the book. He was recognized as an authority in the culinary world and admired by many. *The Classic of Flowers* recounts an experience of the author's father, Mr. Huang Yueyuan. In the Xuantong period, Mr. Huang was a court official, then nearly thirty years old. One day, he thought: The ancients said, "At thirty, one should stand firm." How should I establish myself? He thought that being an official required dealing with people, and being a merchant required cheating people. He should do something he was interested in, which would be the foundation of his character. So, Mr. Huang resolutely resigned from his post and retired. He bought more than ten mu of land, concentrated his mind, held a jar and hoe, forgot to eat and sleep, tended and irrigated, willingly becoming a gardener. Indeed, the Huang family garden flourished, with exotic flowers and plants, and its reputation spread far and wide. Whenever flowers bloomed, social celebrities would visit in groups, composing poems and odes. Literary figures would point at the flowers and plants, discussing the weather. People were deeply inspired: In a chaotic world, nothing is worthwhile, only flowers and plants can be considered confidants. It is said that famous literary figures of the time, such as Zhou Shoujuan and Zheng Yimei, were close friends of Mr. Huang through flowers. Mr. Huang cultivated flowers and cultivated human confidants. That is what it means to truly grow flowers and plants! That is what it means to do one thing well in life. And to do one thing well, can it be done just with a little liking and a little infatuation? Watering every three days and fertilizing every five days? Zhang Ji became famous for his poem "Mooring by Maple Bridge at Night," Zhang Ruoxu's "Spring River, Flower Moon, Night" alone surpassed the entire Tang Dynasty, and Margaret Mitchell stands in the world literary arena with *Gone with the Wind*. Life does not require much; a little is enough.
