# 26 Slides Expose All the Truths About Time Management

> By Etienne Garbugli. Learning time management can greatly improve work efficiency. Today, let's look at some techniques that can help us manage time effectively.

**By Etienne Garbugli**
**Introduction:** Learning time management can greatly improve work efficiency. Today, let's look at some techniques that can help us manage time effectively.

**01. Time is always there; it's about priorities.**
**02. There will always be time.**
Plan only 4-5 hours of real work each day.
**03. When you're in the zone, do more; otherwise, rest well.**
"Sometimes you're not in the zone for days, and sometimes you're in the zone and can work 12 hours a day. That's normal."
**04. Value your time and make it worth valuing.**
Your time is worth $1000/hour, so act accordingly.
**05. Don't multitask. It only consumes attention: stay focused, one thing at a time.**
**06. Develop a work routine and stick to it; your body will adapt.**
**07. In limited time, we are always very focused and efficient.**
**08. The best way to get into work mode is to start working; start with small tasks to get things moving.**
**09. Iterate on work. Expecting perfect completion can be suffocating.**
"Done is better than perfect." A motto on the wall of Facebook's office. Doing it beats any perfect imagination.
**10. Working longer hours doesn't equal higher efficiency.**
**11. Prioritize tasks by importance to improve efficiency.**
**12. Schedule meetings early. Time spent preparing for meetings is often wasted.**
**13. Combine meetings and communication (email or phone) to create uninterrupted work time.**
A small meeting can ruin an afternoon because it splits the afternoon into two smaller time slots, making it hard to get anything done.
**14. Keep the same work environment all day. Switching between different projects/clients is inefficient.**
**15. Work - Relax - Work = Efficiency (Pomodoro Technique)**
The Pomodoro Technique was created by Francesco Cirillo in 1992 as a more micro time management method compared to GTD.
Using the Pomodoro Technique, choose a task to complete, set the Pomodoro time to 25 minutes, focus on work, and don't allow any unrelated tasks until the Pomodoro timer rings. Then mark an X on paper and take a short break (5 minutes is fine). After every 4 Pomodoros, take a longer break.
**16. Break unrealistic tasks into reasonable small tasks. As long as you complete small tasks daily, you'll get closer to the big goal.**
**17. No two tasks have the same priority. There's always one more important; carefully consider your to-do list.**
**18. Be clear about the one thing that must be done during the day.**
**19. Break tasks into time segments to feel like they're almost done.**
**20. Delegate and learn to use others.**
If someone else can do something 80% as well, delegate it to them.
**21. Turn the page on yesterday; only consider today and tomorrow.**
Yesterday's home run doesn't win today's game—don't dwell on past glories.
**22. Set deadlines for everything. Don't let work go on indefinitely.**
**23. For urgent or stressful tasks, set an end time. In a way, everything comes to an end.**
**24. Take more notes.**
Install a reminder app. As the saying goes, a bad memory is worse than a bad pen.
**25. When in a high-efficiency state, jot down anything that distracts you, like Google search terms, flashes of inspiration, new ideas, etc. If you write them down, they won't keep popping up.**
**26. Take proper breaks!**
